Mr. Salah Sharif

A key player in the strategic management of the GFH Financial Group’s core operational functions, Salah Sharif, Chief Operating Officer, is also responsible for ensuring the highest standards of operational excellence across the Group’s Special Purpose Vehicles and project companies. He has more than 30 years of regional and international exposure to conventional and Islamic banking and finance with experience across commercial and wholesale banking and in industrial and infrastructure advisory sectors. In addition to his executive role at the Group, Salah also serves on a number of investee company boards. He is the Chairman of Falcon Cement Company, Vice Chairman of GFH Properties and Vice Chairman of Gulf Holding Company, and a Board member of Khaleeji Commercial Bank.

Prior to his current role in GFH, Salah was seconded as the CEO of Cemena Holding Company (CHC), an industrial subsidiary of the Group, which is one of the largest cement holding companies in the MENA region. Previously, he held a number of senior roles in leading, global financial institutions, including American Express and Standard Chartered Bank where he held key executive positions.

Salah holds an MBA from the University of South Wales, UK.

Ms. Fatema Kamal

Fatema Kamal is the Acting Chief Executive Officer at Britus Education and is an Executive Director at GFH Financial Group, leading on the Group’s education investments. She has played an instrumental role in the operational transformation of the British School of Bahrain and other education assets in GFH’s portfolio.

Fatema has 18 years of working experience and a strong track-record of sourcing, structuring, advising and managing private equity. She has in-depth field experience in the financial sector specialising in investment structuring, strategic and organisational planning, tax structuring oversight, Sharia product structuring, joint venture negotiation, business development and project management. Prior to joining GFH, Fatema held the position of Senior Executive Director of Investment Baking at Global Banking Corporation BSC. She also worked as an auditor with KPMG Bahrain.

Fatema holds a master’s degree with honours in Business Administration from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, United Kingdom, and a bachelor’s degree in Accounting with honours from the University of Bahrain. Fatema is also a qualified and licensed CPA from The American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and CIA from The Institute of Internal Auditors.

Mr. Waleed Rashdan

Waleed Rashdan is the Founder of Steps Rehabilitation Center. Waleed has previously held several positions, including the position of Executive Director of Banking Operations at the Central Bank of Bahrain, Executive Director at Kuwait Finance House BSC (closed), CEO and Board Director of Tadhamon Capital B.S.C. B (Closed). He is also an independent member of the Board of Directors of Acacia Investments BSC (Closed), a member of the Audit Committee of Arbah Capital, Saudi Arabia, and Esad for Human Resources Solutions and Management, Saudi Arabia.

Waleed has a proven track record of more than 29 years in managing companies and institutions. He also has notable experience in managing rehabilitation institutions and nurseries, and currently owns both Little Gems Nursery and Early Learners Nursery.

Waleed holds a Master’s Degree in Executive Management from the University of Bahrain, a Certificate in Financial Risk Management from GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals) and a Certified Public Accountant Certificate from the American Institute of Certified Accountants.

Dr. Hassan Almulla

Dr. Hassan Almulla is the Acting President of  University of Technology  – Bahrain. He also held the position of Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at Bahrain Polytechnic and the Chair of the General Sciences Department at the College of Health Sciences.

Dr. Hassan has a proven track record of more than 26 years and extensive experience in leading, establishing, and growing educational institutions. His extensive experience in teaching, research, and academic administration has culminated in the creation and implementation of a highly ambitious but pragmatic institutional strategy in light of organizational challenges and based on the best educational standards while strengthening governance and financial management.

Dr. Hassan holds a PhD in Physiology from the University of Edinburgh, a Bachelor’s Degree in Biomedical Sciences from the Arabian Gulf University, and a Diploma in Business Administration from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland.

Dr. Laila Ali Al-Mulla

Dr. Laila Al-Mulla holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the French-Arab Institute at the Arab Gulf University, a Higher Diploma in Educational Resources from the University of Bahrain, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English Language from the College of Education at Qatar University. With extensive experience in education, training and development, Dr. Laila has served as a Leadership Skills Coach for more than 10 years in cooperation with the Bahrain Institute for Public Administration. Additionally, she has been involved in the training of the Fellows of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Prime Minister Fellowship program since its commencement.

Dr. Laila also holds a certificate of appreciation from His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Bahrain,  for the success of the Schools and Ministry  Improvement Program, the National Project for Education and Training Development , the Professional Certificate for Human Resources from the Australian Institute of Public Administration, a certificate for passing the Women’s Political Empowerment Program from the Supreme Council for Women, and the Professional Certificate for Etiquette and Protocol From the American School of Washington.
